Syrian Army Kicks off Operation to Water Reservoir of Aleppo

 

Syrian Army troops launched a new round of offensives on ISIL’s positions to take control of the al-Assad Lake that is the main source of water supply to Aleppo city.

After their advances against ISIL and liberating the villages of al-Moshrefeh, Bayjan and Tal (hill) Bayjan Southeast of the town of al-Bab, the army troops have started intensive attacks on terrorists’ defense lines to seize back al-Assad lake, villages around the lake and al-Khafseh region as the main water reservoir of Aleppo city.

Field sources, meantime, said that the army men stormed ISIL’s positions from the towns of al-Oweisheh and Sarhan South of the town of Tadif and advanced towards East al-Khafseh region in Eastern Aleppo, forcing the terrorists to retreat form several villages.

Battlefield reports said ISIL suffered heavy casualties and its military hardware sustained major damage in the attacks.

ISIL has closed off flow of water from al-Khafseh facilities to Aleppo city.

In relevant developments in the province on Tuesday, the army troops continued their anti-ISIL operation in Eastern Aleppo and seized control over more villages and heights Northeast of Kuweires airbase.

The army men, backed up by the army’s artillery units and aircraft, engaged in non-stop clashes with ISIL North of the terrorist-held town of Deir Hafer and seized back the village and hill of Bayjan and the village of Moshreheh Abu Jabbar.

Army reports said ISIL has suffered heavy casualties and its military hardware also sustained major damage in the attack.
