Rouhani Blames Big Powers for Regional Problems

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, in a meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi in Tehran on Tuesday, deplored big powers’ meddling as the main source of problems of the Middle East’s countries.

President Rouhani pointed to many years of war, extremism, sectarianism, violence and terrorism in the region, and said, “Many problems of the region are the result of foreign interferences.”
According to FNA, the Iranian president said that hegemonic powers fuel differences to maintain their domineering role in region, and said, “These powers are constantly trying to create differences among Shiite and Sunni while many religions have been living in a brotherly manner beside each other for many years in this region.”
The Iraqi parliament speaker, for his part, pointed to the friendly and brotherly relations between Iran and Iraq as two neighboring and Muslim nations, and thanked Iranian government’s efforts for setting regional problems and restoration of peace and stability to the region.
Al-Nujaifi expressed hope that the efforts by the Iraqi government in collaboration with regional countries, especially Iran, to establish peace and stability in the region would bear result soon.
President Rouhani has reiterated that expansion of ties with the neighboring countries as well as establishment of peace and stability in the region will be a top priority of his administration.
