Tehran-Riyadh Agreement to Positively Affect Iran’s Ties with Jordan, Kuwait

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kana’ani underlined that the resumption of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia can leave positive impact on Tehran’s ties with Jordan and Kuwait.

Addressing his weekly press conference on Monday, the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said that the Iranian and Saudi foreign ministries are arranging for the meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries while it is hoped that the meeting will take place in the near future.

Agreements have been made regarding the place of the meeting and further information will be released, he added.

Kana’ani pointed out that there is no obstacle to a direct meeting and dialogue between the two foreign ministers, and this process will be carried out through diplomatic channels.

Meanwhile, the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman appreciated the valuable and admirable role of Iraq and Oman in hosting eight rounds of talks between the delegations of the two countries.

“This agreement will help consolidate peace and stability in the region, especially in the strategic area of ​​the Persian Gulf,” he added.

The agreement was signed in the Chinese capital Beijing on Friday, March 10, by Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani and his Saudi counterpart Musaad bin Mohammed Al Aiban.

Under the agreement, which followed several days of intense talks in Beijing, Riyadh and Tehran would reopen embassies and missions within two months and implement security and economic cooperation agreements signed more than 20 years ago.
