Sheikh Qassem: Returning Envoys to Lebanon Realized Their Absence Won’t Press Hezbollah

In an interview with Al-Nour radio station on Thursday, Sheikh Qassem said that the US sanctions have prevented Lebanon from heading towards the East, noting that fundamental reforms must be based on recovery plan as well as the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“We do want to achieve financial, political and social reforms in order to make progress. Lebanon can make such progress since it has important capabilities, especially if the recovery plan puts the charge on the side which is responsible for the losses, which are the banks.”

“Our project is to share the responsibility with all sides and to form a national unity government,” Sheikh Qassem told Al-Nourradio station, stressing that Hezbollah has no intention to ‘change the establishment’ in Lebanon.

Commenting on the return of Saudi, Kuwaiti and Yemeni envoys to Lebanon, Sheikh Qassem said those ambassadors “are the one who should talk about their aims behind their return.”

“The returning envoys realized that their absence would not press Hezbollah but rather would prevent them from implementing the policies of their countries.”
