Iran issued a warning, accusing Israel of attempting to replicate a Gaza-style genocide in the occupied West Bank
The spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry has urged the international community to intervene and prevent Israel from perpetrating what he described as genocide in Gaza against Palestinians, now taking place in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces have ramped up their operations.

In a statement made at a weekly news conference on Monday, Esmaeil Baghaei expressed concerns over the ongoing situation in the West Bank. He highlighted that despite the ceasefire in Gaza, actions and fatalities attributed to Israeli forces persist in the region. Baghaei echoed warnings from human rights rapporteurs, suggesting that the conditions in the West Bank may lead to what they describe as a potential repetition of genocidal acts.
He urged the international community to undertake decisive measures to avert a recurrence of the Gaza atrocities in the West Bank.
He emphasized that the global community must not permit the acceptance of violence as a norm.
Calls for Trial of Israeli Leaders Intensify
Baghaei reiterated the Islamic Republic’s endorsement of recent efforts in the Netherlands to form an anti-Israel coalition, emphasizing support for any initiatives aimed at halting alleged Israeli transgressions.
The primary objective of this alliance is to hold the Zionist regime accountable for alleged genocide in Gaza, a spokesperson stated, emphasizing Iran’s support for any efforts aimed at achieving this goal.
He criticized Western nations for their provision of lethal arms to Israel amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza, and advocated for legal proceedings against Israeli leaders for alleged crimes perpetrated by the regime.
On Friday, officials from South Africa, Malaysia, Namibia, Colombia, Bolivia, Chile, Senegal, Honduras, and Belize unveiled the establishment of a coalition known as The Hague Group. This newly formed alliance seeks to bring an end to the Israeli occupation and plans to orchestrate a series of legal, diplomatic, and economic actions in response to Israel’s alleged breaches of international law.
One of the group’s primary goals is to halt the provision of arms to Israel, citing concerns that these weapons might be employed in acts of aggression against Palestinian communities.
“Gazans Hold Sole Authority Over Their Future”
In response to remarks made by former US President Donald Trump regarding the relocation of Gazans, a spokesman emphasized that discussions about Gaza’s future should be exclusively determined by the Palestinian people.
Late last month, former President Donald Trump unveiled a proposal to “clean out” the Gaza Strip, suggesting the relocation of its inhabitants to neighboring Jordan and Egypt, either on a temporary or potentially long-term basis.
Former President Donald Trump’s statements have ignited a wave of criticism from Palestinian officials, the United Nations, and countries across the Arab world. The comments are being viewed as a significant threat to the viability of the two-state solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has stated that Egypt will not partake in any actions that involve the deportation or displacement of the Palestinian people, describing such measures as unjust.
King Abdullah II of Jordan has firmly opposed any forced displacement of residents from Gaza, affirming his stance against such measures.
**”Israel Allegedly Seeks to Obstruct Lebanon’s Reconstruction Efforts”**
In other statements, Baghaei refuted allegations made by Israel that Iran is covertly transferring tens of millions of US dollars to Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement.
He emphasized that the accusation was intended to obstruct the rebuilding of Lebanon following the devastating Israeli assault.
In November of last year, Israel agreed to a ceasefire with Hezbollah after enduring significant casualties over nearly 16 months of conflict. The hostilities, which took place in Lebanon, concluded without Israel achieving its strategic objectives.
**Iran Backs Syrian People’s Decisions, Affirms Support**
In response to the appointment of Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, the leader of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militant organization, as Syria’s new “president,” Baghaei emphasized that any government receiving the support of the Syrian populace will also receive their backing.
Officials expressed optimism that the transitional phase will culminate in the establishment of an inclusive government that reflects the diverse representation of all Syrian citizens.
Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) had previously held control over certain regions in northern Syria after being forced to retreat by forces loyal to Damascus and its allies. This shift in territorial control followed the onset of a foreign-supported insurgency in Syria, which began in 2011.
On December 8, significant portions of the country were rapidly overtaken during swift advancements, occurring alongside intense Israeli airstrikes. These military actions, initiated by Tel Aviv, were justified as measures to prevent the spread of violence into the occupied Palestinian territories.
**Iran Appoints New Ambassador to the United Kingdom**
Iran has announced the appointment of its new ambassador to the United Kingdom, marking a significant development in diplomatic relations between the two nations. The newly appointed envoy will be tasked with navigating bilateral issues and enhancing diplomatic dialogue. Further details on the ambassador’s background and previous diplomatic engagements are anticipated from official sources.
In a recent press conference, Mr. Baghaei revealed that Ali Mousavi, a former director general within the foreign ministry, has been appointed as Iran’s ambassador to the United Kingdom.
**Iran Summons Swedish Ambassador Over Diplomatic Concerns**
In developments concerning diplomatic relations, Baghaei reported that Iran’s Foreign Minister formally called in the Swedish ambassador on Sunday. This move was to express Iran’s objections to what it describes as “unconstructive” actions taken against the leader of the Imam Ali Islamic Center in Sweden, actions it attributes to “unfounded” allegations.
Baghaei stated that Iranian cleric Mohsen Hakimollahi, currently held in Stockholm and facing deportation, has not committed any criminal offense.
“This action stands in stark contrast to the principles of human rights.”
