Iraqi government forces and their allied fighters are advancing deeper into the strategic northern city of Mosul in their decisive battle to retake it from Daesh. So far, a large number of villages and districts around the city have been liberated from the Takfiri terrorist group.

A former US army officer believes the operation for Mosul is going “tremendously well” for the Iraqis and their allies.

“I think the Iraqi spirit of independence and recapturing the individuality of Iraq as well as the sanctity of Islam from the perversions and the monstrosities that ISIS (Daesh) has unleashed, it is a very noble thing,” Scott Bennett told Press TV in an interview on Thursday.

“I think God is certainly on the side of the Iraqis, the Iranians and the Russians because they are standing up for peace and prosperity. They are not following this Takfiri-Wahhabist violence that has infected the world, that has destroyed so much of the Middle East, granted it has been enabled by the moneys of the United States, CIA, and some of the partners in the Israeli operations and the Saudis,” he added.

Bennett further noted the United States has “no credit” when it comes to the advance on Mosul, adding that it has just “jumped on board.”

However, he said, Washington should be given credit for funding, empowering, enabling and encouraging the Daesh Takfiri terrorists.

“They [the Americans] have facilitated the financing and the human empowerment with weapons from Libya up to Turkey into Syria and we have been bombing convoys, we have been unleashing F-16 upon Syrian government soldiers who have been financing or fighting the enemies of stability,” he stated.

According to the analyst, Washington has no ground to claim authority and the world is not buying into the US’ narrative anymore.

Mosul, which is Daesh’s last major stronghold in Iraq, fell into the hands of the Takfiri terrorists in the summer of 2014.

After months of preparation, Iraqi army soldiers, backed by pro-government fighters from Popular Mobilization Units and Kurdish Peshmerga forces, launched an operation on October 17 to retake the city from the terrorists.
