S. American art expo kicks off in Tehran

The ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) has mounted an exhibition of works by Venezuelan and Bolivian artists in the Iranian capital of Tehran.

The event was opened during a ceremony attended by Venezuelan and Bolivian Ambassadors to Tehran, ECI director and a number of artists on November 25, 2011, IRNA reported.

The Cultural Heart of the World displays various forms of South American art such as paintings, photographs, fabrics, basketry, and traditional musical instruments and outfits.

The ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) aims to foster understanding among ECO member states and preserve their rich cultural heritage through common projects in the field of media, literature, arts, philosophy, sport and education.

ECI’s Charter was signed on March 15, 1995 in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

The Cultural Heart of the World will run until December 9, 2011.
