The Presidents of Iran and Russia have formalized a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, marking a significant step towards long-term bilateral cooperation.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin formalized an agreement in Moscow on Friday.

During a joint press conference subsequent to the signing ceremony, Pezeshkian announced that the agreement is poised to usher in a new era in bilateral relations between the two nations across various domains, with a particular emphasis on the economic sector.

He stated that the document, crafted with regard to the interests of both nations, has the potential to outline a promising trajectory for collaboration between Iran and Russia.

He stated that Tehran and Moscow are resolute in their efforts to eliminate barriers related to customs tariffs, banking, investment guarantees, and the facilitation of trader meetings, as well as addressing visa issues.

The President of Iran highlighted that the agreement aims to enhance the volume of exchanges by leveraging the resources and potential within the Eurasian Economic Union.

He further highlighted the critical need to enhance bilateral collaboration in addressing challenges related to extremism, terrorism, and organized violence.

He conveyed optimism that Iran and Russia will enhance their partnership, aiming to advance shared interests and inaugurate a new era of strategic collaboration.

Pezeshkian emphasized that Russia holds a significant position on the global stage and enjoys a special status within the Islamic Republic’s approach to fostering good relations with neighboring countries.

He reported having “positive” discussions in Moscow focused on regional and international collaboration, covering developments in West Asia, the Caucasus, and efforts to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The Iranian president emphasized that, as both nations are part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the BRICS bloc of emerging economies, the enhancement of their bilateral relations is poised to play a pivotal role in bolstering regional integration and advancing mutual interests.

Pezeshkian reaffirmed that military conflict is not an effective means of resolving disputes, expressing Tehran’s support for the pursuit of peace between Russia and Ukraine through diplomatic negotiations.

Officials have asserted that Western nations must acknowledge and respect the security concerns of other states, urging them to refrain from imposing undue demands.

He stated that he engaged in discussions with President Putin concerning military actions by the Israeli regime targeting Lebanon and Syria.

The two nations have underscored the importance of instituting a lasting ceasefire in Lebanon and halting the current regime’s aggressive actions within Syrian territory.

According to Pezeshkian, Iran and Russia are optimistic about reaching a conclusive ceasefire in Gaza, aiming to bring an end to the ongoing conflict in the region.

Putin Affirms Iran-Russia Intelligence Collaboration Adheres to International Law

The President of Russia has stated that both Tehran and Moscow are closely monitoring developments in Ukraine and are engaged in intelligence cooperation that aligns with international law and the United Nations Charter.
