Sanctions worsen economic situation in Europe

Islamic Republic of Iran Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar said that European Union sanctions have no effect on Iran but will worsen the economic situation in European countries.

On the sidelines of meeting with Head of Russian Federal Drug Control Service Victor Ivanov on Tuesday, Mohammad-Najjar told reporters: “We do not think that EU sanctions are important because we have been facing such sanctions in the past 30 years.”

He added that imposed sanctions have given Iran opportunities to achieve new technologies.

The minister continued that Iran does not feel any pressure on itself by EU imposed sanctions, but the decision will worsen the economic situation in the European countries and the whole world.

He went on to say that sanctions will increase oil prices in the world market and this will increase production expenses for goods in the European countries.

The Interior Minister arrived in Moscow on Sunday and met with Russian senior officials in fields of security, fight against drug trafficking and natural disasters.
