Iran students hold demo to slam Israel war on Gaza

374084_Iran-ProtestIranian students and activists gathered in front of the Egyptian interests section in Tehran to vent their anger at the Israeli regime’s brutal attacks on Gaza, calling for reopening of the Egyptian-controlled Rafah border crossing in the besieged enclave.

The Iranian protesters chanted anti-Israel slogans calling on the government in Cairo to reopen the Rafah border crossing so that relief aid could be delivered to Gazans.

The demonstrators also censured the international community as well as regional Arab states for remaining tight-lipped in the face of deadly Israeli attacks on the densely-inhabited Palestinian territory.

The pro-Palestinian protesters later marched on the Jordanian embassy in Tehran and staged a similar sit-in protest there.

The Arab states of Egypt and Jordan have diplomatic ties with Israel.

In their closing statement, the protesters hailed the Palestinian resistance against Israeli crimes and described firm and armed resistance as the sole option to counter the Zionist regime’s brutalities.

The “fake” advocates of human rights, who have even stopped short of condemning Israel’s atrocities, are “accomplices” in the Tel Aviv regime’s “unforgivable guilt,” the statement said.

The Israeli military aggression has taken the lives of more than 1,860 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and wounded over 9,500 others in Gaza since July 8. The heavy death toll has surpassed that of previous Israeli wars on the blockaded coastal sliver in 2009 and 2012.

The Israeli military says 64 soldiers have been killed in the conflict, but Hamas puts the fatalities at more than 150.
