Hamas calls Biden a ‘partner in crime’ to Netanyahu’s massacre of Palestinians

US President Joe Biden is a partner in crime to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s massacre of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, says a top Hamas official.

On Saturday, Biden said he did not ask the Israeli prime minister for a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza in a telephone call between the two leaders.

Izzat al-Rishq, a member of the political bureau of Hamas, on Sunday condemned Biden’s remarks, which he said proved his complicity in the killing and destruction happening in the besieged Gaza.

“The US president’s remarks were an insult to the international society and the countries that demanded an end to the aggression against Gaza,” he added.

Earlier, Netanyahu’s office said he “expressed his appreciation” for the stance taken by the US at the UN Security Council, adding that he also “made it clear that Israel will continue the war until all its goals are completed.”

On Friday, the Security Council passed a resolution on the Israeli onslaught on Gaza that demanded ramped-up aid deliveries to the besieged region, yet it fell short of calling for an immediate ceasefire to pause the genocide taking place there.

The US also opposed the demand to create a UN monitoring mechanism for aid, saying Israel would continue to have a role in inspecting deliveries.

Since the onset of the war, the United States has supplied the regime with more than 10,000 tons of military equipment. Washington has also slapped its veto against all United Nations Security Council resolutions that called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Basem Naim, another senior official from Hamas, lamented the fact that the world has not taken any serious action against Israeli crimes.

The Israeli regime has given us only two options to either “leave” or “die,” but we have answered “We will either live freely or die in defending our homeland,” Naim said, addressing the Tehran International Conference on Palestine on Saturday.

He added that it is clear for everyone that the main purpose of Israelis mass killings is to expel the Palestinian people from their homeland.

Referring to the news and videos released from Gaza, Naim said that what is shown in the videos is only a part of the courage and bravery of the Palestinians, and the damage caused to Israel is much more than what they announce.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raesi, who also addressed the conference, stressed that “the horrific war crimes in Gaza stem from an unjust world order,” calling for determined efforts to create a new world order.

The Iranian president also warned against Washington’s scheme of “forced displacement” of Palestinians from Gaza.

The UN has described the situation in Gaza as “beyond catastrophic”, with residents struggling to find food, fuel and water, while living in crowded shelters or tents.

The bloodiest-ever war on Gaza has so far killed more than 20,000 people, mostly women and children and injured more than 53,000 others, with thousands more believed lost and buried under rubble. The regime has also cut off most water, food and power supplies into Gaza.
