Sayyed Nasrallah issues first comments on France attacks

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, strongly condemned the attack in Nice, stressing that Islam rejects such actions, while it was considered that Muslims could not bear any offense to the Prophet Muhammad.

Sayyed Nasrallah said in a speech delivered on Friday evening on the occasion of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad:

“The incident in Nice is strongly condemned by Muslims from all their different locations in France, Europe and everywhere, and this incident is rejected by Islam and it is not permissible for anyone to regard it as being based on Islam, which forbids killing or harming the innocent. ”

The Hezbollah leader continued: “Every similar incident or that always comes to us as Muslims is rejected and condemned wherever it occurred and whoever was targeted.”

He stressed that “it is not permissible, when a Muslim, Christian, Jew, or any person belonging to an ideology or religion commits a crime that we hold the religion or the prophet of this religion responsible for the crime.”

He continued in this context: “It is not permissible for the French authorities or others to assume responsibility for a crime committed by a specific person for a complete religion or for followers of this religion. If the perpetrator of the crime is a Muslim, then no one may hold Islam and Muslims responsible for this crime.”

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah added that “this behavior is illegal and immoral, because whoever commits the crime bears responsibility.”
