Security Sources Report: Syrian Gang Linked to ISIL and Mossad Disbanded in Beirut’s Dahieh

On Monday, Lebanon's General Security Agency conducted a raid in the Borj Al-Barajneh area, marking a significant security operation. Details of the mission and its outcomes have yet to be disclosed.

On Monday, the General Security Agency of Lebanon conducted a successful raid operation in the Borj Al-Barajneh area of Beirut’s Southern Suburb, known as Dahieh. The operation resulted in the dismantling of a suspected terrorist cell consisting of five to seven Syrian individuals. The action was triggered by suspicions reported by local residents, according to security sources cited by Al-Manar.

Sources have revealed that initial investigations, after examining the detainees’ mobile phones, suggest a direct connection with ISIL and, even more concerning, the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad.

An Al-Manar correspondent reports that the investigation is concentrating on several critical aspects, with particular emphasis on the following points:

The latest developments are unfolding amid an overarching security context. According to Al-Manar TV, security sources report that Lebanese authorities are ramping up preemptive efforts to disrupt terrorist networks within the country. It has been confirmed that Lebanese Army Intelligence recently apprehended a top ISIL leader in Lebanon, known as “Qasoura.” Under interrogation, Qasoura confessed to heading a group with operations spanning from Baalbek to the South.

Sources have indicated that the Lebanese-Syrian frontier, especially the northern segment, poses a significant security risk as it is exploited by terrorist factions to enter Lebanon. Consequently, security agencies are urged to heighten their vigilance to thwart any possible threats.

The Lebanese General Security has urged citizens to avoid being influenced by rumors that may incite panic, stressing the importance of maintaining vigilance and exercising caution without resorting to alarmism.

Sources from Al-Manar emphasized the crucial role played by citizens in uncovering the cell, highlighting that public vigilance and observation were instrumental in monitoring suspicious activities. They urged everyone to serve as security observers during this critical time.

Sources have concluded that if the relationship between the group members and Mossad, along with their assignment to specific missions, is confirmed, it could signify a crucial security shift within the domestic framework. This would be intricately connected to the ongoing political dynamics in Lebanon and the broader region.
