Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Terrorists’ Attack on Gov’t Positions in Homs

The Syrian army soldiers repelled terrorists’ attacks on their positions in Homs province after hours of clashes, inflicting major losses on them.

The Ahrar al-Sham terrorists’ attack to capture the government forces’ positions in Homs province were fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Deir Ezzur and Tartus, over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in other provinces across Syria.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops engaged in a tough battle with Ahrar al-Sham in Northern Homs, fending off their offensive.

Ahrar Al-Sham began their assault to prevail over the army’s frontlines in the town of Jaboureen, but their attack was repelled by the army men after several hours of fighting.

The terrorists continued the assault by launching a large number of artillery and missile strikes on the towns of Jaboureen, Akrad al-Dasniyah and Qani al-Assi.

Several civilians were reportedly killed or wounded by the indiscriminate missile and artillery strikes, which led to a vicious response from the Army and Air Force.

The terrorists have violated the ceasefire agreement that was set up to ensure a de-escalation zone in Northern Homs.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops kept advancing against the ISIL terrorists in the Northern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city and managed to seize control over a small but key town on Monday.

The army men drove the ISIL out of the town of al-Hosseiniyeh after they took control over the village of al-Salehiyeh earlier on Monday.

Military sources confirmed that the army has now laid siege on the ISIL in some Deir Ezzur city neighborhoods after capturing al-Salehiyeh.

Tens of ISIL gunmen were killed or wounded and their military vehicles and equipment were damaged in the operation.

Earlier reports said that the army’s Special Forces stormed ISIL’s defense lines on the Western bank of the Euphrates River and imposed control over Buqrus Fowqani and Buqrus Tahtani North of the newly-liberated town of al-Mayadeen.

Dozens of ISIL members were killed in the operation while other militants tried to escape across the river at the last moment although their attempts proved fruitless.

Hama

The Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) engaged in heavy fighting with ISIL and managed to capture two villages and a key hill in Northeastern Hama.

The Al-Nusra pushed ISIL back from the villages of Shakhitar and al-Mastariheh and Shakhitar hill in Northeastern Hama.

The clashes inflicted a number of casualties on both warring factions.

Aleppo

The Al-Shamiyeh Front, affiliated to the Ankara-led Euphrates Shield, engaged again in fierce clashes with the rival terrorist group of Sultan Morad Ferqa in Northeastern Aleppo, taking control over a village, militant-affiliated websites disclosed on Monday.

The websites said that the Al-Shamiyeh Front drove Sultan Morad Ferqa out of the village of Turkaman Bareh in Northeastern Aleppo amid escalation of clashes among the terrorists of the Euphrates Shield.

The websites added that mortar units of Sultan Morad Ferqa pounded the positions of al-Shamiyeh Front along the humanitarian corridor in the village of al-Hamran in Eastern Aleppo, injuring six members of al-Shamiyeh Front.

Tartus

The Syrian law enforcers reportedly prevented a possible terror attack in the town of Baniyas, in the Western part of Tartus province, police sources reported Monday.

The Syrian law enforcers uncovered the preparation to launch an attack in the town of Baniyas, Syria’s state-run news agency, SANA, reported citing police sources.

The news outlet reported that the potential attacker was surrounded at the checkpoint when he tried to enter the city.

The town of Baniyas is located in the Tartus province, known for a large port located in the Tartus city, where a Russian naval facility is located.

There has been no information so far on a terror group suspected of being behind the attack’s plot.
