Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem addressed calls for the disarmament of the resistance, urging those advocating for this to instead focus on demanding the withdrawal of occupation forces from all Lebanese territories.
“Defense necessitates no authorization. Once a genuine alternative for national defense is on the table, we can deliberate over all specifics with those who assert they can deliver such protection. We are nearing, rather than distant from, initiating this conversation.”
During the central Ashura commemoration held at the Sayyed Al-Shuhada Compound on the eve of the ninth day, Sheikh Qassem emphasized that Hezbollah will steadfastly refuse to surrender.
“Humiliation is far from our reach!”
Sheikh Qassem emphasized the misjudgments made by Lebanese factions that allied with adversaries in an attempt to dominate resistance supporters. He stressed that these supporters neither yield to their foes nor forsake their rights.
“Achievements are realized when we reclaim our land and homeland — this is our message to you, and we stand prepared.”
Reports from Lebanon indicate a heightened state of alert, as the region continues to grapple with both political and economic challenges. Current developments suggest an escalating tension within the country’s borders, drawing significant international attention.
Hezbollah’s Secretary General expressed a profound dedication to the nation, emphasizing a strong commitment to their homeland. He outlined true patriotism as maintaining a steadfast connection to the land, defending it, nurturing future generations, and fostering a deep bond with it. The leader asserted that their patriotism is absolute and unwavering.
Sheikh Qassem questioned the existence of any conflict between Islam and the concept of the homeland, firmly stating, “Absolutely not. Islam encourages love and defense of our homeland, urges us to hold fast to the land of our forebears, and to embody purity, faith, and integrity within our nation.”
At the state level, as observed in Lebanon, when citizens are resistant to reverting to Islamic law, an alternative legal framework must be established through mutual consensus. This is the system currently in place.
His eminence emphasized that mutual understanding is the key solution, stating, “This is why we have pledged our unwavering commitment to the Lebanese Constitution and laws, viewing them as an integral part of the shared existence we aspire to within the nation.”
Ashura is a significant day in the Islamic calendar observed by Muslims worldwide. It falls on the 10th day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar. For Sunni Muslims, Ashura marks the day when Moses and the Israelites were saved from Pharaoh’s tyranny, often observed with fasting. Meanwhile, for Shia Muslims, it commemorates the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, at the Battle of Karbala, regarded as a day of mourning and reflection. This event holds profound religious, historical, and cultural importance within the Islamic faith, inspiring rituals and commemorations across diverse Muslim communities.
Sheikh Naim Qassem emphasized that the commemoration of Ashura primarily serves to revive the teachings and principles of Islam, which were upheld and defended by Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his family.
Islam introduced the principle that men are traditionally tasked with responsibilities such as bearing arms, engaging in combat, and defending both land and people, while women are generally exempt from this duty.
A woman plays a pivotal role in jihad, analogous to that of a man. While men have specific duties, women contribute significantly by managing the home front. Their responsibilities include caring for children, ensuring the supply of food, water, and medicine, providing medical care, and uplifting spirits. These efforts are considered an integral part of the struggle.
His eminence declared, “Imam Hussein (PBUH) endeavored to uphold truth during challenging times and succeeded, for his mission endures to this day and will continue until the Day of Judgment. That is the essence of true success.”
“Pioneering figures in Lebanon, who adhere to the Islamic principles of truth and integrity, serve as practical embodiments of shared beliefs and commitments.”
Sheikh Qassem reflected on the resolute stance of Sayyed Abbas Al-Moussawi, revered as the Master of the Martyrs of the resistance. In challenging times, when doubts arose about confronting formidable odds, Sayyed Abbas maintained unwavering faith in divine victory. He championed the Palestinian cause and the liberation of the land, following the legacy of Imam Hussein (PBUH).
Sheikh Qassem stated that during the “The Formidable in Might” and “Al-Aqsa Flood” battles, conducted in solidarity with Gaza, a notable number of martyrs, including women and children, were sacrificed on the battlefield.
During the conflict, tribute was paid to the leader revered as the Master of the Martyrs of the Ummah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. He is honored for establishing the Husseini path and is recognized for his profound contributions and sacrifices, including the martyrdom of his son, Hadi, while actively engaging with both the youth and the broader community.
A call to action resounds as followers of Imam Hussein (PBUH) reiterate their steadfast dedication with the phrase: “At your service, O Hussein.” This commitment is a tribute to Imam Hussein’s faithful and honest delivery of his message, emphasizing the universal responsibility of both men and women in the enduring struggle between truth and falsehood.
Sheikh Qassem delivered a message of resilience to supporters of the resistance, urging them to maintain confidence and stand tall despite any attempts to intimidate them.
“Rest assured, your excellence in intellect, conduct, ethics, and the pursuit of your cause is unsurpassed. Your resolve in advancing a better future, demonstrating unwavering loyalty, and achieving triumph or sacrifice will not waver before adversaries. With a strong foundation in profound ideals and steadfast belief, your resolve remains unassailable.”
