Salehi : Iran supports Syrian solution, opposes foreign-imposed one

Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, renewed Iran’s opposition to any foreign-imposed solution , preferring the solution to be a Syrian.

” Iran stands by the Syrian solution and rejects any solution imposed on Syria by outsiders,” Salehi told al-Mayadeen TV Channel on Monday evening.

He said that Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi’s decision to sever the relations with Syria, close the Syrian embassy in Egypt and to withdraw the Egyptian charge d’affaires from Syria would negatively affect the forthcoming international conference on Syria.

” Egypt can play a major and important role compared to the others in resolving the crisis in Syria and we hope the Egyptian officials to reconsider this decision, ”

Salehi considered that the U.S. decision to arm the Syrian opposition comes to help terrorist groups to restore control on the ground after the defeats they experienced at the hands of the Syrian army.

He pointed that the Zionist entity and the West are behind what is happening in Syria of killing innocent people and destroying infrastructure.

Salehi said Iran has a major role in the region and there would be no solution for any issue without it, affirming his country’s continued support to the resistance movements against the Zionist entity.

Salehi added that Iran’s openness on the world countries, particularly the Western ones, does not mean surrender but establishing good and balanced relations, asserting that Iran does not interfere in the internal affairs of any country as it wants the best relations with all countries of the region.
