Sistani receives Leader’s message

Caretaker of the IRI’s Foreign Ministry Ali-Akbar Salehi conveyed the special message of the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei to Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Sistani.

After meeting with Ayatollah Sistani on Thursday morning, he emphasized the very particular and central position of Ayatollah Sistani in the community of Iraqi Muslims and said he delivered the message of Imam Khamenei to him.

He further stressed the pivotal role of Ayatollah Sistani and hoped that the Iraqi nation would reach tranquility and security through his teachings and guidelines.

Prior to his departure to Najaf, Salehi also met with another major cleric in Karbala Ayatollah Mohammad-Taqi Modaressi.

During the meeting, both parties stressed the need for resolving transport and travel problems between the two countries.

Salehi arrived in Baghdad Wednesday morning to meet with senior Iraqi officials on issues of mutual interest.
