Several Syrian terrorists killed while planting bomb near Damascus

A number of foreign-backed Syrian insurgents have been killed in a blast that occurred when explosive charges they were planting inside a car near Damascus exploded.

A police source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the SANA news agency that the incident took place in the al-Fateh area on the outskirts of Damascus on Saturday.

He added that all the insurgents who were planting explosives in the car were killed in the explosion.

On the same day, dozens of armed men were killed during intense clashes with Syrian troops in the flashpoint city of Aleppo, located about 310 kilometers (193 miles) north of Damascus.

The Syrian Army also destroyed several cars loaded with weapons and munitions that had been used by insurgents in the al-Layramoon area of Aleppo.

In addition, Syrian troops raided insurgent hideouts in the al-Sheikh Said, Bustan al-Qasr, and al-Marjeh neighborhoods of Aleppo. They shot dead scores of insurgents and destroyed four cars in the battles.

Syrian forces also attacked insurgents on Aleppo’s al-Sakhour Bridge, killing a large number of them.

They also destroyed a pickup truck equipped with a Dushka machine gun.

The crisis in Syria began in March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed.

The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the insurgents are foreign nationals.
