Slaughterer Israeli higher court rejects appeal for release of hunger striker

Slaughterer Israeli higher court turned down on Tuesday an appeal by lawyers to release Hasan Safadi, who is held in administrative custody without trial or charge, despite going into his 49th day of hunger strike.

Safadi’s family told the PIC reporter that the court rejected the appeal for his release on grounds that he “posed danger to security of the region”.

The family said that Safadi, who was suffering weakness and worsening health condition, arrived to court on a wheelchair. They said that he lost 33 kilograms of his weight and he could not speak or raise his hand or head.

The family said they were stunned at the verdict, charging that it was in complete disregard of Safadi’s life. They called on international institutions and human rights groups to demand his release especially when there was no charge leveled against him.
