SNSC Secretary Reiterates Key Role of Solidarity in Iraq’s Progress

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili in a meeting with Iraqi Vice-President Khazir al-Khazai on Wednesday underscored the important role of solidarity and integrity in the progress and advancement of Iraq.

“Today Iraq is on the path of growth and progress in light of internal solidarity and integrity,” Jalili said.

He also stated that while Iran and Iraq are speedily making their way towards progress and flourishing, the power of the arrogant governments is decreasing and these conditions show a bright prospect for the regional nations.

Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, in 2003.

Both sides are working on a series of plans to take wide strides in expanding their ties.

Late in January, Iran and Iraq reached an agreement on launching a joint shipping line to enhance their marine cooperation.

Tehran and Baghdad signed a number of bilateral agreements during Iraqi Transportation Minister Hadi Farhan al-Amiri’s recent visit to Iran.

During the visit, the Iranian and Iraqi officials also agreed to establish joint companies to facilitate transportation of goods and passengers between the two countries.
