Syrian Army Battling ISIL to Seize back Strategic Crossroad East of Palmyra

The Syrian Army troops have been engaged in tough battle with ISIL terrorists since Thursday to drive terrorists out of a key crossroad East of the newly-liberated city of Palmyra (Tadmur), military sources said.

The sources said that the army units launched a powerful assault on ISIL’s positions in al-Talilah crossroad in the Eastern direction of Palmyra.

They added that the army men faced a large number of ISIL fighters that recently retreated from the Palmyra Grain Silos.

The sources went on to say that the army is expected to take control of this site in the coming days, as the ISIL continues to retreat further into the Syrian Desert.

In relevant developments in the province on Thursday, the army troops regained control of Jabal al-Mazar mountains, 15km away from Palmyra, after heavy clashes with the ISIL in the Eastern parts of the city.

Tens of ISIL terrorists were killed and wounded in clashes with the army.

Also, the army won back control of several warehouses in the region.
