Suffer Heavy Casualties as the Syrian Army and Hezbollah Advance in Southern Aleppo

The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and Hezbollah intensified their military operations inside the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside on Thursday, striking the Islamist rebels from Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham at several sites near the strategic towns of Khan Touman and Al-Zorba.

Hezbollah led the charge at the Al-Zorba Farms on Thursday morning with a powerful assault on the eastern farms of Al-Zorba, killing several enemy combatants from Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki before they advanced towards the town’s eastern entrance.

Not long after Hezbollah powered through the Islamist rebel defenses at Al-Zorba, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4thMechanized Division – in coordination with Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City – launched massive assault on the strategic town of Khan Touman, attempting to bypass Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham’s frontlines at the eastern flank.

According to a battlefield journalist that is embedded with the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies reportedly killed over 40 enemy combatants from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Jabhat Al-Nusra; these numbers included several Saudi and Turkmen militants that were members of the aforementioned Jihadist group.

Among the Islamist rebels killed by the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah on Thursday was the Jabhat Al-Nusra commander Walid Al-‘Uraifi (Saudi national) – his entire contingent was killed at the Al-Zorba Farms by the pro-government forces.
