Sunni cleric stresses proximity among Muslims

Akhoond Noorizad, Sunni prayer leader from Golestan Province in Iran, referred to the history of proximity in the world of Islam and hailed the activities of Shia and Sunni leaders to promote the meaning across the Muslim world, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

In a visit to TNA headquarter in Tehran, Akhoond Noorizad said,”Proximity, since old days, have been discussed in Egypt and prominent figures like Allameh Boroujerdi, Iranian proximity figure, and Sheikh Abdul Majid Salim, renowned Egyptian cleric, tried to institutionalize the issue.”

He hailed Islamic Revolution in Iran as an incident that realized the dream of Islamic proximity and the beginning point for launching the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.

“World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought is quite famous around the Muslim world and this is a great pleasure for all Iranian people.” He said.

He also slammed the exhumation of an old grave belonging to a companion of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) calling that a move that has broken the hearts of the Muslims and in opposition with Islamic Sharia.

Akhoond Noorizad rejected the disrespectful move as Haram (forbidden) and said puppets of the arrogant powers and the Zionists to be behind this measure.
