Supreme Leader Reinstates Hashemi Rafsanjani as Chairman of Expediency Council

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday reinstated Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani in his post as the chairmen of Iran’s Expediency Council for a new 5-year term.

In his decree, The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyed Ali Khamenei praised the Council for its good performance during the last 5 years and appointed members to the Council for a new 5-year term.

The Leader expressed the hope that the measures adopted by the Council during the last 5 years would yield good results and produce benefits for all the Iranian people.

The Expediency Council is an administrative assembly appointed by the Supreme Leader and was created upon the revision to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran on February 6, 1988. It was set up to resolve differences between the parliament and the Guardian Council.

What follows is a list of the individuals reinstated or appointed by the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyed Ali Khamenei as the members of the Expediency Council for a new five-year term:

Legal Parties:

A- Heads of the three branches of power
B- Guardian Council jurisprudents
C- Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council
D- Minister or Head of the body who case is under discussion at the Expediency Council
E- Chairman of the relevant Parliament Commission (whose commission is engaged in the case under discussion at the Expediency Council
