Syrian Army liberates over 2,0000km2 of desert terrain from ISIS in new operation

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) issued a powerful response to the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) in the Badiya Al-Sham region of Deir Ezzor this week, liberating a large chunk of this desert region.

Backed by the Russian Aerospace Forces and National Defense Forces (NDF), the Syrian Arab Army kicked off a big operation to liberate the Badiya Al-Sham region located west of the strategic Deir Ezzor Governorate city of Al-Mayadeen.

According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Army and their allies liberated over 2,000 square kilometers of desert terrain in the Badiya Al-Sham region.

The source stated that the Syrian Army and their allies were able to completely overrun the Islamic State terrorists and liberate many areas, including the Al-Ward Oil Field and Mizlah region.

In addition to these advances, the Syrian Army and their allies eliminated scores of Islamic State terrorists that were attempting to hold this region.

These terrorists have repeatedly launched attacks against the Syrian Army and their allies in the Badiya Al-Sham region of Deir Ezzor region, prompting the latter to finally strike back with a desert massive operation.

As a result of this operation, the Syrian Army was able to fully secure Al-Mayadeen city and its surrounding areas from any potential Islamic State threats in the future.

The Syria Army and their allies are now working on clearing the last remnants of the Islamic State terrorists that are still present in this part of the Badiya Al-Sham region.

Another group of Syrian Army soldiers are working with their allies from Hezbollah and the National Defense Forces to clear the Badiya Al-Sham region in the eastern countryside of the Al-Sweida Governorate.

While the eastern Al-Sweida front was not as pressing as Al-Mayadeen, the Syrian Army still wants to make sure ISIS cannot threaten the provincial capital in the future.
