President Rouhani: Quran top uniting factor for world Muslims

President Rouhani inaugurated the 5th International Quran Competition of Muslim University Students.
Hassan Rouhani said that it was an augury, since the first and opening day of the Quran Competition, where university students of 47 countries attend, “coincides with three important religious events; the day when the 12th Imam of the Twelver Shias Imam Mahdi (AJ) began his spiritual leadership of the pious; the Week of Unity between two major branches of Islam, which is the birth anniversary of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH); and, the first day of New Year in Gregorian calendar which bears the name of Christ the ‘Word of God,’ in Islamic belief,” Rouhani told the ceremony.

“Quran is definitely the most important common uniting element for Muslims; the other important religious and political duty of Hajj pilgrimage connects and unites the Muslims further, along with the love of the Prophet and his Households and Companions; as Quran itself reads ‘if thou holdst firm to these verses, thou wilst never gone astray,’” Rouhani quoted verses from the holy book.

“Quran is the only book among heavenly scriptures which has remained intact, undergoing no changes which distorted other heavenly books; it contains the chapters and verses in the exact order the God gave to the Prophet through His Angle Gabriel; the book is a source of blessing not only for Muslims, but also, as a verse in Quran declares, it is the source of light for all the world people from the dawn of history, and will remain so forever,” Rouhani told the audience.
