Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Purges Terrorists from More Regions in Hama Province

The army units also pushed back terrorists from more regions in Northeastern Hama.

The Syrian troops killed tens of terrorists and injured dozens more in fierce clashes over controlling of strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Hama

The Syrian army forces won back control of a new region in Northeastern Hama during military operations against the al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) terrorist group on Thursday.

The army units engaged in heavy clashes with the al-Nusra terrorists at borders between the two provinces of Hama and Idlib, retaking control of the village of al-Forkeh.

Also, the artillery units of the Syrian army targeted the al-Nusra Front’s moves in Western Salamiyeh on Wednesday night, leaving tens of terrorists dead and wounded.

Deir Ezzur

The Russian Defense Ministry announced that six Tu-22M3 strategic bombers had launched a massive strike on ISIL’s arms and ammunition depots, command posts and fortified areas that were confirmed to be destroyed by means of reconnaissance.

The November 2 strike “carried out in order to support the Syrian government forces to crush ISIL terrorists,” came just a day after the Russian long-range bombers that flew over the territory of Iran and Iraq carried out a strike destroying ISIL targets in the town of Albu Kamal.

The Syrian army assisted by the Russian Aerospace Forces is currently on an offensive launched after the historic liberation of the city of Deir Ezzur and the lifting of its three-year terrorist blockade aiming to wipe the ISIL out of the province. As a result of the operation, the Syrian army have already gained control of a number of areas in the Euphrates River valley and freed the once largest ISIL stronghold in the Deir Ezzur province from terrorists that had been used by the militants to accumulate weapons and manpower to launch attacks on the cities of Palmyra and Deir Ezzur.

Most lately, a Russian submarine launched a strike with the Kalibr cruise missiles from the Mediterranean on the ISIL targets in Albu Kamal to help the Syrian army’s offensive on the ground.

While Russia’s data says that over 90 percent of Syria has been liberated from ISIL, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has stated that the Russian military campaign launched at the request of President Bashar Assad in 2015 will be completed soon.

Homs

The Syrian army targeted an Israeli jet with a surface-to-air missile over the country’s Homs province.

A Syrian army commander said that the Israeli jet was targeted after it bombed a copper factory located to the South of Homs province.

However, Israel’s Channel 10 claimed that the aircraft returned unscathed to its base after bombing the factory in the industrial town of Hisya, 35 km (21 miles) South of Homs and 112 km (70 miles) North of the capital Damascus.

The Syrian commander did not say whether the Israeli strike had caused any casualties.

During the past few years, Israel has frequently attacked military targets in Syria in what is considered as an attempt to prop up terrorist groups that have been suffering heavy defeats against Syrian government forces.

Back in April 2015, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially admitted for the first time that the Israeli military had conducted strikes in Syrian territory.

Damascus says Israel and its Western and regional allies are aiding terrorist groups operating inside the Arab country, while the Tel Aviv regime’s military carries out such sporadic strikes against Syrian government forces. The Israeli regime has even set up field hospitals to treat wounded militants evacuated from Syria.
