Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Terrorists’ Attacks on Gov’t Positions in Homs

 

 The Syrian army soldiers repelled terrorists’ attacks on their positions in Homs province after hours of clashes, inflicting major losses on them.

The terrorists’ offensives to capture the government forces’ positions in Homs were fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Deir Ezzur and Damascus, over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in Syria’s key provinces.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops warded off terrorists’ heavy offensive on government forces’ positions in Northern Homs, inflicting major losses on the terrorists on Tuesday.

The terrorists, backed up by their mortar and heavy machinegun fire, violated truce again in Northern Homs and stormed the army’s defense lines in the outskirts of the town of Talbiseh and in the villages of Tir Ma’ala and al-Qantou and the regions of al-Mashari’a and al-Mohata.

A number of terrorists were killed or wounded in the failed attack.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery and missile units pounded terrorists’ centers in the region, killing or wounding a number of them and destroying their military hardware and positions.

A military source said that the army’s artillery and missile units launched heavy shelling on terrorists’ positions in Northern Homs after the terrorists breached ceasefire in de-escalation zone and targeted residential areas in two villages.

The sources said that the Al-Nusra’s missile units deployed in the town of Talbiseh in Northern Homs heavily shelled residential areas in the villages of al-Najmeh and al-Ashrafiyeh in Northeastern Homs.

The army soldiers in response engaged in heavy fighting with Al-Nusra and Ahrar al-Sham South of Talbish and East of al-Qantou, the sources said, adding that the army’s artillery and missile units retaliated and opened heavy fire at terrorists’ positions in Talbiseh and al-Qantou and their outskirts, in the village of al-Ameriyeh, in Abu Yasar farms and in Northern and Northeastern Homs.

The sources said that a number of terrorists were killed or wounded and their military equipment was destroyed in the clashes and by the army fire.

In the meantime, the army men targeted a group of terrorists that were digging trenches in Abu al-Anz Farms in Talbiseh and towards the village of al-Najmeh in Northern Homs, killing or injuring the entire members of the group.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops hit ISIL’s positions hard in a desert-like region in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur on Tuesday and tightened noose on the trapped terrorists.

The army men and popular forces continued to advance against the remaining pockets of ISIL in a desert in Southern Deir Ezzur, leaving no way out for them to escape.

In the meantime, the army units stormed ISIL near the joint border of Deir Ezzur and Homs provinces.

Also, the Syrian Air Force carried out a number of combat flights over ISIL’s positions in al-Sukhnah Badiyeh (desert) and Humeimeh region in Eastern and Southeastern Homs, killing and wounding a number of terrorists and destroying their positions and military equipment.

The ISIL has now been trapped in a region as large as 5,500 sq-km expanded from al-Sukhnah in Eastern Homs to the outskirts of the town of Albu Kamal in Southeastern Deir Ezzur.

Damascus

The Syrian Army troops launched fresh assaults on the strongholds of the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Southwestern Damascus and imposed control over more strategic regions on Tuesday.

The army men, backed up by the army’s artillery and missile units, stormed the defense lines of the Al-Nusra in Southwestern Damascus and won full control over Modavar hills South of Bardaya Mountains and Eastern Tal (hill) al-Maqtoul Southwest of Bardaya.

In the meantime, the artillery and missile units opened heavy fire at terrorists’ strongholds in Beit Jinn in Southwestern Damascus.

Military sources confirmed earlier that the army troops intensified attacks on the positions of the Al-Nusra Front in Southwestern Damascus, killing tens of terrorists.

The sources said that the army’s artillery units opened heavy fire at the movements of a group of Al-Nusra terrorists near the village of al-Mughur al-Mir, killing and wounding the entire members of the 17-member group and destroying their arms and ammunition.

The artillery units, meantime, pounded the Al-Nusra strongholds in al-Mughur al-Mir and Beit Jinn Farm, inflicting major losses on the terrorists, the sources added.

The army’s heavy attacks have inflicted major defeats on the Al-Nusra that is on verge on full collapse in Southwestern Damascus, the sources said, adding that a large number of terrorists have escaped from Zahr al-Aswad hill and al-Ziyat region towards al-Mughur al-Mir.

Aleppo

Unidentified gunmen killed a senior commander of the Al-Nusra Front terrorist group in Southern Aleppo, websites close to the terrorists disclosed on Tuesday.

The websites reported that Mohammad Ramadhan al-Hajji nom de guerre Abu Amar al-Hasi, the commander of Jeish Osama affiliated to Al-Nusra Front, was killed by gun fire of unidentified raiders in Southern Aleppo,

Abu Amar was Al-Nusra’s commander in Jabal al-Has region, the websites said, adding that Abu Amar had recently participated in clashes with Ahrar al-Sham.

Hama

The Syrian Army troops stormed the stronghold of the Al-Nusra Front again in Northeastern Hama on Tuesday and drove the terrorists from more villages and hills.

The army men, backed up by the artillery and missile units, struck the Al-Nusra positions in Northeastern Hama and Southeastern Idlib, and captured the villages of Um Tarkiyeh, Um Hazim, al-Hawiyeh and Tal (hill) Shotayb.

A large number of terrorists were killed and their remaining pockets fled to the adjacent villages.

A field sources reported, meantime, that the army men fortified their newly-captured the positions and later used the villages of Um Tarkiyeh and al-Zaferiyeh near the border with Idlib to kick off fresh attacks on Al-Nusra.

Also, other units of the army men repelled Al-Nusra’s attack on government forces’ positions in al-Mosheirefeh region South of the town of Abu Dali, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.
