Iran Produces Advanced Bitumen

There are different types of bitumen in Iran based on the Performance Grade (PG) which have been categorized since four years ago and are produced depending on weather conditions in various regions.

Iranian researchers have now succeeded in the production of a new type of bitumen, based on normal, heavy, very heavy and extra heavy traffic, which also enjoys the quality of being produced for different weather conditions.

Iran is one of the major exporters of bitumen to the world.

Iran exported 2.38 million tons of bitumen worth $561 million during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2018-Nov 21, 2018) registering a 16.15% increase in value compared with last year’s corresponding period.

A majority of the exports were made from the Southern Iranian province. A total of 1.68 million tons of bitumen worth $395 million were shipped from Hormozgan during the eight months, up 19.34% in value year-on-year.
