Iran’s Ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pakaein says Syria has inflicted heavy damages on terrorists over the past two decades, urging the international community to appreciate the Arab state’s fight against organized terrorism.
Pakaein told reporters on Monday: “Syria’s anti-terror valuable measures have been carried out under the circumstances that the West has so far unprecedentedly supported terrorist groups and the Zionist regime’s aggression against the country to strengthen terrorism.”
He added that the recent Friends of Syria Conference held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, was an important step to foster broad regional and international efforts in order to help people in the crisis-stricken country.
The Iranian official called for comprehensive national talks in a friendly atmosphere to help the Syrian people resolve the ongoing unrest.
On May 29, Iran hosted the Friends of Syria Conference in Tehran under the banner of “Political Solution, Regional Stability.” The event was attended by representatives from 40 countries, seeking to find a political solution to the crisis in the Arab country.
The Iranian ambassador stated: “An immediate end to conflicts and the creation of an appropriate atmosphere to enter the democratic process are the Syrian people’s demands.”
