A militant commander disclosed on Sunday that Fatah al-Sham Front (the newly-formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) and Saqour al-Sham engaged in serious dispute over taking control of a military base in Southern Idlib.

“Soghour al-Sham militants, who had recently captured a base of Jund al-Aqsa in Harsh Mosayebin region, did not agree with Fatah al-Sham’s demand to gain control over the newly-captured base,” the spokesman for Soghour al-Sham said.

“After hours of arguments, some of the militants from both sides used their guns and shot in the air several times. The situation is still critical near the base,” the sources added.

“We ourselves captured this base and we will not allow any other group to have it under control,” he underlined in several tweets.

Reports said on Sunday that Jund al-Aqsa, another militant group called by Washington as moderates, declared subordination to Fatah al-Sham Front.

The announcement by Jund al-Aqsa came as the differences between Jund al-Aqsa and its rival militant group Ahrar al-Sham intensified and ended up in severe clashes in recent days.

Jund al-Aqsa claimed that its allegiance to Fatah al-Sham was aimed at preventing more clashes with Ahrar al-Sham which is a much larger terrorist group in terms of number.

Hectic efforts earlier to put an end to the disputes and clashes between Ahrar al-Sham and Jund al-Aqsa failed and resulted in unprecedented fighting between the two terrorist groups over the past few days.
