On Sunday morning, the militants from the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Brigade” – in coordination with Jaysh Al-Yarmouk and the Syrian Al-Qaeda organization “Jabhat Al-Nusra – attacked the Syrian Armed Forces and the Druze civil defense at the Tha’lah Military Airbase for the fifth time in five days, attempting to breach their frontline defenses at the southwestern perimeter of this base in the western countryside of the Al-Sweida Governorate.

Unfortunately for the enemy combatants, this assault resembled their previous four infiltration attempts, as the rebel contingents were unable to break-through the Syrian Armed Forces’ defensive barriers on Sunday morning, despite the fact they pounded the Tha’lah Military Airbase with over 100 mortar shells and rockets; this shelling was coupled with repeated attempts by the rebel militants to storm the southwestern perimeter’s entrance in order to secure a position inside this strategic base.

After engaging the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the National Defense Forces (NDF), and the Druze militias in a series of fierce firefights, the rebel militias comprised of the FSA, Jaysh Al-Yarmouk, and Jabhat Al-Nusra were forced to withdraw their fighters from the Tha’lah Military Airbase, leaving the aforementioned rebel contingents with another unsuccessful day in Al-Sweida.

According to a military source inside the Al-Sweida Governorate, the Syrian Armed Forces and Druze militias killed over 25 enemy combatants from the rebel contingents, including ‘Oman Mohammad Ahmad Abu ‘Aoun (AKA “Abu Sufyan), Mohammad Ahmad Fadel Al-‘Eid, ‘Issa ‘Abdullah Al-Hariri, and Moussa Khaled Isma’eel Al-Dawoud.

The source further added that the Syrian Armed Forces and Druze militias are in full-control of the Tha’lah Military Airbase.
