Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah Prepare for Their Final Assault in Al-Zabadani

The Syrian Arab Army and Hezbollah conducted a powerful assault on the Islamist rebel’s defensive positions at the Darab Al-Sham in the resort-city of Al-Zabadani on Sunday morning.

Following a morning of intense firefights with Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Liwaa Suqour Al-Zabadani (Zabadani Hawks Brigade) and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra,” the Syrian Armed Forces and the Lebanese Resistance captured Darab Al-Sham in Al-Zabadani; this area is located on the road to the city of Wadi Al-Barada in the western countryside of the Rif Dimashq Governorate.

With the capture of Darab Al-Sham in Al-Zabadani, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah have a clear path to the city of Wadi Al-Barada, which is imperative to the Syrian Government because of the water resources that supply the nation’s capital.

In addition to its water resources, the capture of Wadi Al-Barada will be imperative for the Syrian Armed Forces due to its proximity to Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights; this will likely be the next military endeavor for Hezbollah and Syrian Arab Army offensive in western Syria.

As the battle for Al-Zabadani reaches its conclusion, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah prepare for one final assault to capture the downtown from the Islamist rebels; if successful, they will set their eyes on the town of Madaya before they divert their attention to Mount Hermon.
