Syrian Army advances on several axes in the ISIS heartland

The Syrian Arab Army’s 66th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) – continued their large-scale advance across the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) heartland on Monday, liberating several points around the strategic village of Abu Hanaya in in the east Hama countryside. In addition to their advance at Abu Hanaya, the Syrian Armed Forces made another push near the imperative village of Sheikh Hilal, where they have been experiencing several violent attacks from the ISIS terrorists recently.

Perhaps the biggest surprise on Monday was the Syrian Arab Army’s attack on ISIS’ defenses along the Salamiyah-Raqqa Highway, resulting in the death of a dozen terrorists and 3 pick-up trucks mounted with anti-aircraft machine guns.

Optimized by Komoona According to a military source at the nearby city of Al-Salamiyah, the Syrian Armed Forces are currently pushing deeper into the ISIS heartland, advancing east along 3 different axes for the first time since the genesis of this brutal conflict. The primary goal at this point is to capture the ISIS stronghold of ‘Aqayrbat in order to retake the Palmyra-Hama Highway that is used by the aforementioned terrorist group to wreck havoc inside the Al-Salamiyah District.
