Syrian Army liberates two towns neighboring Mayadeen in Deir Ezzor

On Sunday evening, elite assault troops of the Syria Arab Army (SAA) spanned out from newly liberated city of Mayadeen and expelled ISIS militants from two neighboring towns on the western bank of the Euphrates River.

With ISIS is on the brink of utter defeat in eastern Syria, the SAA’s Tiger Forces capitalized on their battlefield momentum by capturing Buqrus Fouqani and Buqrus Tahtani – located directly north of Mayadeen – following a blitz pincer offensive this evening.

Dozens of Islamic State members were killed in the process while some terrorists even tried to escape across the river at the last moment although these attempts proved fruitless as the SAA took no prisoners today.

Next up, Major General Suheil Al-Hassan hopes to cross the Euphrates River and establish a new beachhead on its eastern bank amid a wider bid to cutoff the rival ‘Syrian Democratic Forces’ from land-grabbing further ISIS-held territory in the country’s most oil-rich province, Deir Ezzor.

The main goal of the next stage of the ongoing ‘Big Dawn’ offensive will be the seize the strategic Omar Oil Fields and reach the eastern border with Iraq, military sources within the SAA inform Al-Masdar News.
