Syrian Army captures 230km2 of territory along Jordanian border – map

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) had a productive day in southern Daraa on Thursday, as their troops managed to capture a large chunk of territory along the Jordanian border.

Led by the Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army began their assault by storming the southern countryside of Busra Al-Sham.

This attack would catch the rebel forces off guard, as the Syrian Army pushed into southeast Daraa from their positions in neighboring Al-Sweida.

With the rebels falling back, the Syrian Army was able to sweep through a number of towns, including Samad, Samaj, Taysiya, Muqtalah, Nada, and Al-‘Amman.

In addition to seizing several towns, the Syrian Army also took hold of several border points after the rebel forces withdrew further west towards the town of Al-Mata’yah.

According to a military source in the government stronghold of Izraa, the Syrian Army captured several border garrisons from point 67 to point 71.

As a result of this advance, the Syrian Arab Army found themselves in control of approximately 230 square kilometers in southeast Daraa.

More importantly, the Syrian Arab Army is on the verge of clearing the entire Sweida-Daraa axis for the first time since the start of the armed conflict inside Syria.
