Syrian Army clears ISIS pockets in southern Aleppo

Following the stupendous recapture of large swathes of territories formerly controlled by the Islamic State in southern Aleppo, the Syrian government forces continue to cleanse the remaining pockets as to secure the whole area.

Having liberated up to 14 villages in the area located between East Khanssir toward the north of Athriyah-Rusafa highway, the Syrian Army – backed by paramilitary fighters – is slowly advancing to finish off the remaining pockets and eventually secure the entire enclave.

Most of ISIS jihadists have withdrawn eastward to their heartland of Deir Ezzor, where the Syrian Army has been defending its bastion since the city was entirely encircled more than 2 years ago.
