Syrian Army Continues Mop-up in Aleppo

The Syrian troops clashed with al-Nusra Front in several areas in Aleppo and its outskirts, killing and wounding several antigovernment fighters.

A large number of insurgents were killed and wounded in Aleppo near central prison, an official source told the Syrian Arab News Agency.

A gathering of al-Nusra Front’s members at the Northern part of the Industrial City in al-Sheikh Najjar area was targeted by the Syrian soldiers, the source added.

Several units of the armed forces repelled rebels’ attempts to attack the residents in the areas of Suleiman al-Halabi and Bustan al-Qasr, killing and wounding many militants.

Another army unit foiled an attempt by militants to infiltrate into al-Ashrafiya at the Eastern side of Bustan al-Basha neighborhood, destroying rebels’ heavy machineguns and mortars.

Meantime, scores of militants were killed in the neighborhood of al-Sakhour area and Bustan al-Basha by the Syrian troops.

In the city of Aleppo, units of the armed forces killed a number of rebels at the crossroads of al-Sheikh Khudr, destroying a 23 mm anti-aircraft gun in Beni Zaid area.

An army unit, the source said, killed 11 insurgents near Salah Eddin Mosque in al-Ashrafiya, and three other militants were killed in Qastal Harami in the old city of Aleppo.
