Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – backed by Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF), Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary), Kata’eb Hezbollah (Iraqi paramilitary), Liwaa Al-Badr (Iraqi paramilitary), and Liwaa Abu Fadl Al-‘Abbas (Iraqi paramilitary) – imposed full control over this strategic village after a violent battle with the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and Jaysh Al-Mujahiddeen that lasted 72 hours.

According to a source from the 4th Mechanized Division, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies took advantage of the Islamist losses during the latter’s counter-assault last night and made one final push to seize the entire village of Rityan this afternoon. In addition to capturing Rityan, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies once again established full control of Mayer after the Islamist rebels managed to reenter this village during their counter-assault last night; this site is now full under the control of the government forces.

Meanwhile, at nearby Kafr Naya and Bayyanoun, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies are involved in a violent battle with the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra, the Free Syrian Army (FSA), Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and Jaysh Al-Mujahiddeen for these imperative villages that border Al-Zahra’a and Nubl.
