Syrian Army, Hezbollah storm Wadi Barada area of rural Damascus

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their military operations in the Wadi Barada area of rural Damascus on Tuesday, targeting Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham’s (formerly Al-Nusra Front) positions at the village of ‘Ayn Al-Fijah.
Backed by Hezbollah, the Syrian Arab Army attempted to break-through Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham’s defenses at the northern flank of ‘Ayn Al-Fijah this morning; however, the first assault was repelled by the jihadist group.
The Syrian Army would regroup north of ‘Ayn Al-Fijah and then restart their assault, striking the jihadist front-lines with more soldiers and heavy artillery.
While the Syrian Arab Army has yet to report any significant gains, this assault today is meant to apply pressure on the jihadist rebels to surrender the Wadi Barada area in order to restore the water supply to the estimated 5 million people in Damascus.
