Syrian Army Inches Closer to Strategic Town in Idlib

The Syrian army advanced to areas 15km away from the strategic town of Saraqib during military operations in Southeastern Idlib.

The army forces continued clashes against the al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Southeastern Idlib on Thursday, regaining control of Hamimat, Tawihineh, Wadi al-Mazrowi and Wadi Madresah regions.

Field sources confirmed that the Syrian army has reached regions 15km away from the strategic town of Saraqib, near the international Damascus-Aleppo road, after winning back control of 12 towns and villages between the town of Abu al-Dhohour and Saraqib in Eastern Idlib.

They also added that the army’s next target after Saraqib will be surrounding the two terrorist-held towns of Foua’a and Kafraya which are 11km away from Saraqib.

Field sources reported on Wednesday that the Syrian army has dispatched hundreds of fresh forces and a large volume of military equipment to Idlib to intensify attacks on terrorists.

The sources said that the army has forwarded two convoys, consisting of 10 tanks and over 15 armored vehicles with a sum of 200 fresh soldiers to the newly-liberated Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib.

In the meantime, hundreds of fresh army men have been sent to Southern Aleppo, especially to the town of al-Hadher, the sources said, adding that the army is planning to reinvigorate its forces in Eastern Idlib to free the town of Saraqib from terrorists.
