Syrian Army raises flag over northeast Daraa region

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) scored its biggest advance in southwest Syria earlier this week after they broke-through the jihadist lines to capture the key town of Busra Al-Harir.

The battle for Busra Al-Harir began earlier this week, with several units from the Tiger Forces and their allies from the National Defense Forces (NDF) and 5th Division storming the town from several flanks.

Within hours of launching the attack, the Syrian Army was able to impose full control over Busra Al-Harir, forcing the remaining jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham to retreat south towards Al-Hirak.

Following the capture of Busra Al-Harir, the Syrian Arab Army would seize two more towns from Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, putting their forces at the northern outskirts of Al-Hirak for the first time in years.

As a result of this advance on Tuesday, the Syrian Arab Army is now in full control of northeast Daraa for the first time since the start of the armed conflict.

Since capturing northeast Daraa, the Syrian Army has seized several towns from the jihadist rebels, including the key town of Al-Hirak and several surrounding military bases.

The Syrian military is now working to secure the Al-Sweida Governorate border for the first time since 2011.
