Informed sources in the strategic province of Damascus confirmed that the Syrian Army has pushed back an al-Nusra attack on its positions in the nearby areas of Damascus.

The sources told the FNA that tens of al-Nusra terrorists were killed or wounded in Khan al-Sheeh farms and al-Husseinia village by the army men in Damascus countryside.

The sources said that the terrorist group retreated forces from the battlefield and the army started to fortify its positions.

On Saturday, the army started fresh rounds of operations against the terrorist groups’ positions in the strategic province of Damascus, and killed or wounded scores of the fighters.

Over 30 terrorists, including foreign nationals from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Tunisia were killed in the army’s offensives in Douma.

The sources went on to say that the army men also raided the militants’ strongholds in the nearby areas of Haratsa, Jobar, Ayn Tarma, and Erbin, and pushed the rebels back from their positions.

Syria has been grappling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. The violence fuelled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 210,000 people, according to reports. New figures show that over 76,000 people, including thousands of children, lost their lives in Syria last year.
