Pro-Morsi student killed as police, protersters clash

At least two students have been killed and several others injured in fresh clashes between Egypt security forces and student protesters at al-Azhar University.

Clashes broke out after hundreds of students staged a protest against the military-installed government.

Police official say they also set the Faculty of Commerce on fire. However, students have denied starting blazes in the faculty.

Fresh anti-government protests are underway in Egypt, a day after deadly clashes between police and demonstrators claimed several lives across the North African country.

On Friday, 9 people were killed as police fired tear gas and bird shots at protesters.

The opposition Anti-Coup Alliance, which is led by the Muslim Brotherhood, has now called for seven days of street protests.

The call came just one day after the interim government declared the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization.

A leading international human rights group criticizes the Egyptian government for designating the Brotherhood as a terrorist organization, adding that the measure is aimed at intensifying the crackdown on the movement’s peaceful anti-government activities and its supporters.

The rights group insists that Cairo must immediately reverse the decision.

The movement has been organizing mass anti-government protests after the military overthrew the country’s first democratically-elected president, Mohammed Morsi, in early July.

Hundreds of supporters of the group have been killed in clashes with the army over the past few months.
