Syrian army storms militant positions, kill scores of terrorists

The Syrian army has stormed militant positions in several parts of the country, killing and injuring scores of terrorists fighting against the Damascus government.

According to Syria’s official news agency SANA, Syrian troops clashed with foreign-backed militants in the suburbs of Damascus, Homs, Idlib and Latakia on Friday, inflicting heavy losses on them.

It also said that most of the militants killed in the clashes were foreign nationals, among them 21 snipers from the terrorist al-Nusra Front.

Syrian troops also destroyed several militant hideouts along with the weapons and munitions inside them.

Syria has been experiencing unrest for two years and many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed in the turmoil.

On Thursday, at least 42 people, including a top Sunni cleric, were killed in a terrorist attack on a mosque in the capital Damascus.

According to SANA, Sheikh Mohammad Said Ramadan al-Bouti, 84, was killed as he was giving religious lessons at al-Iman Mosque in the Mazraa district of the capital. His grandson was also reportedly killed in the explosion.

Iran, Russia and Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah have condemned the terrorist attack.
