Syrian Army takes full control of Deir Hafer Plain in east Aleppo: ISIL

Two years ago, the thought of the Syrian Arab Army seizing Deir Hafer from the Islamic State (ISIL) was inconceivable, as they found themselves surrounded from almost every flank of Aleppo City.

On Wednesday, March 29th, 2017, the Syrian Arab Army liberated the last villages in the Deir Hafer Plain, expelling the Islamic State terrorists south towards their last bastion in the Aleppo Governorate.

In a matter of 3 months, the Syrian Arab Army liberated more than 190 villages and two dozen hilltops, paving the way for their large-scale advance to the Euphrates River in order to end the water crisis plaguing the province.

With Deir Hafer under their control, the Syrian Arab Army can now shift their control to the Maskanah Plain, where they hope to liberate the strategic Jirah Military Airport and the last villages around the Al-Raqqa Governorate’s border.
