Syrian Mosque Imams Condemn Takfiri Fatwas as Causing Rift among Muslims

20130614-174632_h487529Syrian Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed warned in the Friday sermon of the takfiri fataws and tools of instigation as they “can cause splits that could break up the unity of the Islamic and Arab nations”.

In the same context, mosque’s imams and preachers stressed that few of the so-called scholars are violating the Islamic law and implementing the global Zionism’s plans to undermine the unity of the Arab and Islamic nations.

The imams condemned the Takfiri calls as “causing a dangerous rift in the body of the nation”, affirming that these calls are not based on any Islamic sharia source.

For his part, Imam of the Grand Omayyad Mosque, sheikh Ahmad al-Bakkar, called to keep the takfiri thinking away because it has nothing to do with Islam.

He stressed that “Islam is wide enough to contain all differences and not conflicts,” expressing his condemnation of the killing of the boy Mohammad Qatta at the hands of terrorist groups in Aleppo.

In a statement issued on June 10th, the Levant Scholars Union stressed that the instigative fataws issued by al-Khardawi and Mufti of the Saudi Wahhabism, in addition to the statement of Islamic World Association “are part of the war declared against the Islamic religion”.

The Union’s statement said it is the duty of all scholars of the Islamic nation to take a clear and correct stance towards the fatwas calling for bloodshed.
