Iranian Soldiers Fire ’Maverik’ Missiles in 4th Day of Military Drill

Fighters of the Iranian Air Force on Sunday successfully fired improved Maverick missiles on the fourth day of the Mohammad Rasoulallah war game which is underway in southern Iran.

The maverick missile is an air-to-ground tactical missile (AGM) designed for close air support. It is effective against a wide range of tactical targets, including armor, air defenses, ships, ground transportation and fuel storage facilities.

The six-day maneuver started in a 2.2 million-square-kilometer area stretching from east of Hormuz Strait in southern Iran to southern parts of the Gulf of Aden.

It is being participated by various units from ground forces as well as air force fighters and navy vessels. It is aimed at improving rapid reaction of the Iranian armed forces.

The maverick missiles fired today have been improved by experts of Iran’s defensive industries.

Air patrolling as well as mid air refueling are parts of the operations to be launched on the fourth day of the military drill.

In the meantime, the naval forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will conduct minesweeping operations on Sunday.
