Syrian opposition groups lack mass support: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with Joe Iosbaker, a political commentator from Chicago, to investigate the Syrian opposition groups’ reluctance to sit at the negotiating table with the Syrian government.

Iosbaker says since the foreign-backed opposition groups in Syria lack mass support, they have inevitably relied on foreign assistance to be able to continue their fight against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government.

Until the opposition groups are under the aegis of other countries like Saudi Arabia and Turkey, the prospect of any negotiated solution to the crisis seems far-fetched, he adds.
