Syrian Parliament Speaker warns against dangerous nature of extremist thinking

Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Hihad al-Laham on Sunday sent messages to speakers of the Arab, foreign parliaments on the dangerous nature of the takfiri, extremist mentality on the region and the world, as well as the Saudi Arabia’s involvement in supporting the armed terrorist groups which perpetrate daily crimes against innocents.

“This cancerous phenomenon which clearly emerged during the crisis in Syria has uncovered the extent of the Saudi involvement in spreading the takfir sedition which invaded the world claiming the lives of innocents, in a flagrant violation of all human values and sanctities,” the Speaker said.

He added that in light of the Syrian Parliament’s commitment to the future of peoples to live in peace, and upon facts observed in the regions dominated by the terrorist takfiri groups, whether in regards to takfiri booklets being taught to the elementary school students like the book of al-Tawhid, or to the behavior being practiced by those who killed on the political, sectarian identity, it sounds the alarm towards this fatal phenomenon as the remedy is still possible.

Al-Laham appealed to the international, cultural institutions and parliaments to stand against and confront the terrorist mentality and its marketing tools through books or media because they harm the brains of children and plant in their minds the seeds of suicide concepts through acts of explosions and bombings.

He also called on the world parliaments to be aware, mobilize the efforts to confront that extremist thought and put an end to its ability to extend, as it is linked to the ideology and thinking of al-Qaeda.

The Parliament Speaker called for including the clergymen who issue instigative fatwas against other religions in the lists of world terrorism and bringing them to justice, urging countries, publishing centers to prevent circulation, printing books which market for the takfiri thoughts.
